Tommy T. Travis is a longtime Southwest DeKalb resident, community advocate, and candidate for DeKalb County Commission District 3.

For nearly two decades, Tommy has served District 3 through civic leadership, neighborhood advocacy, education initiatives, and direct community engagement. 

In the 2024 special election, more than 9,000 District 3 voters supported his vision for stronger communication, greater accountability, and leadership that consistently shows up for the community.

In 2025, Tommy founded the South DeKalb Coalition to help ensure residents and stakeholders in unincorporated Southwest DeKalb have a stronger, more organized voice in county decisions. Under his leadership, the Coalition has:

• Published a weekly community newsletter 
• Led the successful public push for the first extension of the data center moratorium 
• Helped secure the renaming of Ellenwood Park in honor of Dr. Alice White Bussey 
• Worked with residents and responsible developers to support redevelopment of long-blighted property 
• Successfully opposed inappropriate residential care home placements in multiple neighborhoods 

Tommy has also served:

• DeKalb Community Council 3 (8 years) 
• DeKalb County SPLOST I Citizens Oversight Committee 
• DeKalb NAACP Education Chair 
• DeKalb County Democratic Committee Executive Committee 
• Georgia PTA District 11 Executive Committee 
• DeKalb County School District Student Assignment Project Committee 

As a DeKalb County employee, Tommy understands firsthand how DeKalb county government operates and believes residents deserve responsive leadership, clear communication, and meaningful collaboration.

Tommy is proud to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council and Teamsters Local 528.

His campaign is focused on:
